Safe Coding Options for Schools and Students
Welcome to the Creative Coding Challenge Pathway B.
We understand that some schools, including NSW Department of Education schools, may be limited in which coding platforms they are permitted to use. In particular, Scratch Online may not be available in some schools because it includes online community features such as public sharing, comments, and social interaction.
To support all teachers and students, we provide safer coding options for this challenge.
Students may use:
๐ MRT Scratch Web App
Use the Scratch-style coding editor directly through the MRT eLearning platform.
๐ท MRT Scratch Windows App
Download and install the MRT Scratch Coding App on a Windows computer.
๐ MRT Scratch Mac App
Download and install the MRT Scratch Coding App on a Mac computer.
๐ซ Approved School Coding Platforms
Where permitted by the school, students may also use approved platforms such as Scratch Desktop, Microsoft MakeCode for micro:bit, or MakeCode Arcade for game design.
๐ The MRT Scratch Coding App is designed for learning and competition use. It does not include Scratch Online’s public sharing, chat, comments, or social community features.
Students can safely create their projects at school or at home, save their work locally, and submit their completed project file through the challenge system.
Teachers can choose the option that best suits their school’s device policy, student access needs, and approval requirements.
